Aug 24, 2009- (The views expressed in this blog are the views of Bryan Benway, and may not be the views of the Laredo Bucks organization). Oh Hi Friends. Good Monday morning to each and everyone of you out there today! I hope your weekend was fantastic, I know mine was. We have a lot to discuss today, so let's get crackin'!

Today is August 24th, that means it's exactly two months until the Bucks home opener on October 24th against Allen (the team named Allen, not a guy named Allen). Every day I come to work the excitment is bigger and bigger as we get closer to the game against Allen (again, the team named Allen, not a guy named Allen).

Moving onto to player announcements and such...

The Bucks will announce the 14th player to the roster tomorrow morning (pretty early, i'll explain why later). I will tell you two things about the player that we will announce tomorrow.

1. He's a rookie (no suprise there huh?)

2. He's a forward.

Ok, i'll give in and tell you a little more about the player we will announce tomorrow. He took the same route as a previous Bucks signee from earlier this summer (when you read the press release tomorrow you will see what i'm talking about). I can also tell you that he played a lot of games in the OHL (144 to be exact), and he had a lot of PIM's in that time (over 500).

I am having trouble getting pictures of the guy though, so don't be upset if there is not a picture tomorrow on the website (sorry, I can't control everything, I wish I could).

So that's tomorrow's news, but there will be some bigger news coming this Thursday (Aug 27th). Be sure to check the website tomorrow afternoon for more information on Thursday's news (you are not going to want to miss it, trust me).

Just in case I forget, here is our community update for the week. There are some really important events that we will be at this week, including the North Central Park Manadas Trail 5k Run, at 10202 International Blvd, at 8:30am. Running/walking at 8:30am on a Saturday morning? Holy cow, I guess I can't have a late night on the town Friday!

If you have not had a chance to listen to the interview that I conducted with Igor Agarunov last week, you can find it here. I appreciate all of the e-mails and comments about the interview. People really enjoyed hearing what Iggy had to say.

Sticking with the topic of interviews, the second part of El Presidente Coach Rosco's interview is online at oursportscentral.com. Check it out here, it's rather interesting what he has to say.

Moving onto some CHL news. I received a lot of e-mails asking what the price was going to be for the new CHL-TV pass. The league has asked me not to reveal it online yet, but if you want to know the possible costs please e-mail me at benway@laredobucks.com , I'll give you what i've been told thus far.

Other CHL news, the big announcement was finally made today about "Life getting better", or something like that. The CHL unvieled the brand spanking new rewards program, and I think it's pretty unique. Basically you can earn points by buying tickets and team merchandise and for businesses, investing in the team through sponsorship. Members of the program can transfer points from their CHL Loyalty Rewards membership to other participating points programs (airlines, hotels, etc.) and vice versa.

Here's some examples of what you can get:

-if you earn 1,000 points you get a free ticket to the CHL All-Star game here in Laredo on Jan. 13th.

-2,500 points: One Club Level Access and Dinner Buffet at a Bucks game

-5,000 points: Golf Shirt & Hat, OR One Month All-Team Access for CHL TV

-7,500 points: One All-Star Game & Banquet Ticket

There's points all the way up to 2,000,000, and check out what the Bucks will give you with 2,000,000 points. Two Tickets to Stanley Cup Final!!! Are you kidding me! That's awesome!

Anyway the whole list is here at www.chlpoints.com, please check it out we are pretty excited about it.

That's about it for this blog, but be sure to check tomorrow for a lot more info on the new player to be announced, and more info on Thursday's announcement as well will come tomorrow as well.

As always i'll close by quoting the great game show host Bob Barker, "help control the pet population, have your pets spayed or neutered."

Until next time,

It will be a hot one in the old town tonight!
