Aug 8, 2009- LAREDO, TX- Over 20 pets were adopted from The Laredo Animal Protective Society Animal Shelter at the Laredo Bucks “FREE Family Fun Day” Saturday at the Laredo Entertainment Center.

"We want to thank the Laredo community for all of their support in helping find those animals homes," said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "We had several people make donations so that people didn’t have to spend money to adopt a pet."

The adoptions were the most ever at a Bucks event.

An estimated 3,000 people attended the Bucks FREE Family Fun Day.

"This event was bigger and better than our annual open house, because it was more family oriented with lots of activities for the kid’s," said Ruskowski.

Ruskowski was on hand at the event, as were several Bucks players to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

There were lots of games for the kid’s, including potato sack races, musical chairs, pin the tail on Bucky, and many more! The Bucks also had several large inflatable games set up, as well as face painting, and dancing.

Digikids and the Imaginarium Children’s Museum were also on hand Saturday, giving kid’s a chance to get their ID done, as well as learn some important information.

The Junior Bucks also played floor hockey games with Bucks players on hand.

The Bucks staff was on hand giving fans a chance to view available seats for season tickets, purchase new Bucks merchandise, as well as inventory clearance items, including specialty jerseys. At the event fans purchased single-game, season, and group tickets.

The Bucks also had an equipment sale on Saturday, as the Bucks sold skates, game pants, gloves, new helmets and more.

The Bucks will start their eighth season in the Gateway City in October, and will host the 2010 CHL All-Star game January 13th. Season tickets start at under $6.50 per game. Call 718-BUCK (2825) to order.
