Bucks Fall to Americans at Home

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, fell to the Allen Americans 4-2.

The Laredo Bucks battled the Allen Americans for the fourth straight game on Saturday night, this time on home ice at the Laredo Energy Arena.  The Bucks beat the Americans 3-2 in overtime Friday night in Allen.

The first period both teams found it hard to find their groove.  Laredo would have two powerplays in the first period, but were unable to find the net.  The Americans struck first when Scott Langdon knocked in a rebound at 11:35.  This gave the Americans a 1-0 lead.  However, the Bucks outshot Allen 14-12 in the period.

The Bucks began the second period knocking on the doorstep of the goal line.  The two teams once again were playing a very physical game.  Mark Nebus dropped the mitts once again versus the Americans, this time it was against Trevor Hendrix.  At 5:56, A.J. Hau scored a powerplay goal to tie the game 1-1.    Neil Trimm and Matt Pierce assisted on Hau’s sixth goal of the season.  The Americans jumped ahead once more, when Jim McKenzie scored a powerplay goal at 14:58.  The Bucks continued to battle through the rest of the period, but were unable to light the lamp.  The Bucks outshot Allen 12-8 in the frame.

Laredo worked hard in the third period trying to even the score.  At 4:25, Ryan Sparling was able to tie the game 2-2 with a shot around the side of the net.  Matt Boyd assisted Ryan Sparling on the goal.  The Americans would score two goals later in the period foiling the Bucks comeback.  The Bucks pulled Torrie Jung during the final minutes of play, but were unable to score.
